Commuters are experiencing substantial delays caused by a signalling issue at a railway station.

Initially reported on X by Southeastern, “Due to a signalling system fault at #GillinghamKent, services passing through this station may experience delays. Services departing from Gillingham depot are also impacted.”
The fault resulted in the cancellation of the 5:40 am train bound for Cannon Street, London.
Engineers were scheduled to arrive at the site by 7:00 am, but their arrival was delayed by 30 minutes.
Staff reportedly completed repairs shortly after 7:50 am.

The rail company advises that train services may be altered as efforts are made to minimize delays.
A spokesperson added, “Services towards London through the Medway towns are experiencing significant delays.
Passengers can use their tickets on Thameslink services and the London Underground between terminals.”
