“GloRilla Receives Praise from Rihanna for Album Release Inquiry – Hollywood Life”
On Tuesday, the 24-year-old rapper GloRilla shared a series of Instagram photos, culminating in a screenshot of an old direct message from Rihanna, 36, asking, “You got all summer sis! I know dis wild hypocritical, but when the album drop? 🥴🤷🏿♀️❤️”
GloRilla captioned the post with enthusiasm: “Ayyeeeee.”
Fans resonated with Rihanna’s playful remark, particularly since her last album, “Anti,” debuted in 2016.
However, fans continue to enjoy Rihanna’s activities. On June 28, a video of her dancing and rapping to GloRilla’s latest single, ‘TGIF,’ went viral, with A$AP Rocky, her partner and father of her two children, watching.
While GloRilla has yet to release her debut album, her mixtape “Ehhthang Ehhthang” reached No. 4 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 18 on the Billboard 200 in April. She performed ‘TGIF,’ ‘Yeah Glo!,’ and ‘Wannabe’ with Megan Thee Stallion at the 2024 BET Awards, where she was nominated for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and BET Her for ‘Yeah Glo!’
In a recent cover story with Vibe, she disclosed that she’s currently in the studio working on her debut album, slated for release later this year.
“[Yo] Gotti advised me not to get complacent. Keep pushing forward. If you let up, everything could fall apart…it’s all about consistency and longevity. That’s what defines success,” she shared with the magazine.
Meanwhile, Rihanna told Entertainment Tonight in June that she’s “starting fresh” with her forthcoming album, “R9.”
“I feel like music, for me, is a new journey…I’m rediscovering things. I’ve been working on the album for so long that I set it all aside, but now I’m ready to get back in the studio. Give me a moment!”
“It’s going to be incredible,” she assured. “It has to be — that’s why it’s not out yet. If it doesn’t resonate with me and reflect the evolution and time I’ve spent away, it wouldn’t feel right. There has to be a sense of growth, right?”
