Sussex Police officers say that the group of teenagers reportedly attacked another group in Shoreham on the evening of April 8.
The force has since released an image of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the incident.
The CCTV image of the man shows him with dark hair, wearing a black hoodie, black trousers and black trainers.
The incident is reported to have taken place at 8.10pm on April 8 in East Street.
A group of teenagers reportedly assaulted and racially abused another group.
Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses.
A spokesman for the force said: “Witnesses or anyone with any information or footage is asked to contact police online or call 101 quoting serial 1242 of 08/04.”
