Courtney Carrick appeared in Glasgow Sheriff Court on May 30, having pleaded guilty to a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner. This behavior included repeatedly shouting and swearing at another woman, brandishing a golf club, uttering threats of violence, and displaying aggressive behavior.
The court proceedings revealed that on December 2, 2023, the woman received a phone call from a child and went to Downs Street to collect them. During this time, Carrick exited a property’s close and approached the woman, shouting, “What are you going to do?” The woman chose not to engage and started recording the incident.
Carrick briefly returned to the property but then emerged onto the street holding a golf club, which she brandished while shouting, “I’ll murder you.” The woman promptly contacted the police, leading to Carrick being traced and found at the property. During police questioning, Carrick admitted to going out with the golf club but claimed she didn’t use it. However, the golf club was later found in the building’s close.
Carrick was charged and remained silent during questioning. Her defense lawyer informed the court that Carrick was a first-time offender and was experiencing significant stress at the time of the incident.
Addressing Carrick, Sheriff Patricia Pryce cautioned against such behavior, stating, “This is not the way to resolve it.” Sentencing was deferred for six months, contingent on Carrick maintaining good behavior during this period.
