A 38-year-old man was taken to hospital with a stab wound yesterday evening and those responsible are still at large.
Nearby residents in Hangleton Road, Hove, reported seeing men in balaclavas as officers set up a cordon in the road – with dogs and armed police searching nearby – yesterday evening.
One man was walking his dog when he was told by armed officers to “turn back” near Hangleton Road shortly after 6pm.
Paramedics were seen treating a man on the pavement before taking him to hospital.
Nearby roads have been a hive of police activity this morning with officers going door to door, searching streets and gardens.
People with information or footage are being asked to contact Sussex Police.
A spokesman for the force said: “Police responded to a report of a stabbing in Hangleton Road, Hove, about 5.50pm on Tuesday 21 May.
“A 38-year-old man was located and taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.
“This is being treated as an isolated incident and our enquiries to locate those responsible are ongoing.
“The public can expect to see a visible police presence in the area in the meantime.”
