Residents in Brighton, Worthing, and rural areas of the county were fortunate to witness the Aurora Borealis, considered a rare event that occurs once every decade.
Enthusiasts of the night sky gathered at locations like Ditchling Rise, Wild Park, and various green spaces across the county to marvel at the stars. The spectacle of the Aurora Borealis was also observed in Queen’s Park, Patcham, and Wild Park near Falmer, among many other spots.
Even Sussex Police officers at Gatwick Airport had the opportunity to see the lights, capturing an incredible image during the night.
A heightened solar storm activity led to the visibility of the Northern Lights along the South Coast, with Sussex experiencing their vibrant display for the first time since 2005.
There’s a slim chance of witnessing the Northern Lights again in Sussex tonight, continuing the celestial excitement for skywatchers in the region.
