This project is part of the Strategic Projects in Spain, in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with funding from the Next Generation-EU Funds.

CIBER-SHUBE continued its activity with a major event that took place in Ibiza on 26 April 2024 within the framework of the Ibiza Tech Forum. During the meeting, activities such as presentations, round tables, pitch competitions, business rounds and networking at the highest level with investors, corporations, media, universities and other agents of the entrepreneurial and technological ecosystem were carried out, with the aim of providing solutions to the main scientific and technological challenges of our society and economy.

The opening ceremony took place at 09:00 hours and included the intervention of Javier Marín, Director of Applied AI and IE University’s guidance counsellor, and the presence of Emilio Corchado, Director of CIBER-SHUBE and CEO of Startup OLÉ, as well as part of the team. After this, a total of 5 round tables were held, dedicated to analysing the world of cybersecurity from different areas, such as, for example, smart mobility; the role of public administration; ethics and control in AI; the future of the use of urban furniture and the use of new technologies to create inclusive cities, among others.

These activities included presentations by Eduardo Di Monte, Managing Partner of EDAN Ventures; Daniel Solis, Managing Partner of EDAN Ventures; Jorge Martínez-Arroyo, co-founder and director of COREangels EnterpriseTech; Xavier Méndez, founder of Crata AI; Fernando Marí, co-founder of Ibiza Tech Forum; Agustín Baeza, Public Affairs and Communication Advisor at Los100deCOTEC; Llorenç Valverde, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Institute of the Balearic Islands (IAIB) of the UIB; Dolores Tur, Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce of Ibiza and Formentera; Violeta Garín, Innovation Consultant & CEO of BIG PICTURE; Juan M. Zafra, Content Director of TELOS and Director of Club Abierto de Editores; Jose Luis Trenco, founder & CEO of Clubtickets.com; Boris Delgado, Director of Industry and ICT at AENOR; Alejandro Campoy, Director of Global Experience at Microsoft; Christopher Davison, CEO of NavLive; Juan Luis Cano, Senior Product Manager at QuantumBlack and AI by McKinsey; Stig Peter Mattias, Director of Innovation and CTO of IoE; and Soraya Cadalso, co-founder of Uttopion, among others.

    INCIBE’s strategic projects

INCIBE’s particular mission is to boost the cybersecurity capabilities of society and the economy in general through a programme that seeks to promote and generate knowledge and its transfer to the productive sector, especially by establishing synergies between the social and economic spheres of cybersecurity. To develop this purpose, the programme of grants for the excellence of advanced research teams in cybersecurity was launched in 2018. In 2022, specifically on 5 December, in order to give continuity to this strategy, the public invitation for collaboration in the promotion of Strategic Cybersecurity Projects in Spain was published.

These initiatives are part of the Global Security Innovation Programme, included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) through Component 15. Investment 7 Cybersecurity: Strengthening the capacities of citizens, SMEs and professionals and boosting the sector.

Strategic projects are a way of providing concrete solutions to some of the greatest scientific and technological challenges facing our society and economy. They are designed to promote the application of the results of research and innovation, combining new forms of governance and collaboration, as well as involving citizens and the productive and social fabric.
