Guys, I am not going to lie, skittles are my weakness. As in buy a multi-pack to *last* me for two weeks, then eat them all in 2 sittings.
No big leap then to see why skittles shots are a thing in this household. Yeap, Skittles shooters are an easy way to serve the rainbow at your next party, BBQ, picnic, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and other celebrations.
I love serving up the orange ones on Thanksgiving, the green ones for Christmas, purple ones for Halloween, yellow ones for Easter, etc. And I pull out all the colors for graduation parties. Such fun, friends.
P.S. If you love vodka drinks, then you might want to pop over to these easy vodka cocktails. Something for everyone.

How To Make Skittles Shots
Get complete ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card further below.
Step 1. Separate the 5 colors of Skittles into different jars. This recipe makes one jar of Skittles vodka, so you would need to repeat the recipe for each color and each jar you make.
Step 2. Add one color of the Skittles candies into a jar, then pour in the vodka.
Step 3. If making more than one batch, continue adding vodka to each of the candy-filled jars.
Step 4. Cover the jars with the lid and shake well. Then refrigerate for about 5 days.
Step 5. After 2 days, turn the jar upside down, then turn them right side up again the day before they are done.
Step 6. Strain the infused vodka through a cheesecloth or fine sieve before serving the Skittles drinks chilled.
Recipe Tips
- Make sure to group the Skittles candy by color before making the vodka. Otherwise, you might end up with a rather interesting (and not in good way) color. It will still taste good, though. But I recommend definitely doing one color per jar only.
- Feel free to add more or less Skittles to each jar to your preference.
- Feel free to use the brand of vodka you have on hand.
- However, using a high-quality vodka will result in a better outcome. Using cheap vodka with terrible flavor will result in a terrible outcome. In other words, the vodka you choose makes all the difference in the quality of the final product.
- These shots are best served chilled.
- Friends, these colorful and sweet drinks go down easily, so please make sure to drink responsibly and be mindful of your consumption.
Delicious Variations
- If you are up for interesting colors, then by all means add more than one color Skittles into the jar.
- Feel free to change out the vodka for some gin or tequila instead.
- You could add salt to the rim of your shot glasses.
- To get the kiddos in on the fun, make a non-alcoholic version by using sparkling lemonade instead of vodka.
Storage
- Make ahead – since it takes up to 5 days to complete, you can make it ahead for 5 days and strain on the day you want to serve this.
- Store – keep the strained drink in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. If not refrigerated, the drink taste will deteriorate.
- Freeze – I do not recommend trying to freeze this recipe.
FAQs
Making these Skittles vodka shots is quite easy! All you need are Skittle candy, a bottle of vodka, and some jars with lids, and follow these simple steps;
1. Separate the Skittles by color and add each color to a separate jar.
2. Pour vodka into each jar, place on the lid, then shake to combine well.
3. Keep jars inside the fridge for 5 days. Turn upside down after 2 days, then turn right-side up on day 4.
4. Strain the infused vodka before serving.
It typically takes a few days for the Skittles candies to fully dissolve in vodka. I have found waiting for a full 5 days ensures the candy is completely dissolved and provides the best flavor.
This Skittles drink is made with two simple ingredients; Skittles candy and vodka.
When kept in a tightly sealed container and refrigerated, candy infused vodka will last up to 1 month.
