Emma Stone has put an end to the swirling rumours that she labelled Academy Award host Jimmy Kimmel a “prick” following his joke about her film, “Poor Things,” during the 2024 Oscars ceremony.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter alongside Nathan Fielder, Stone addressed the speculations that arose after Kimmel’s quip about the number of sex scenes in “Poor Things,” saying, “Those were all the parts of ‘Poor Things’ we’re allowed to show on TV.” The camera then cut to Stone whispering something to her husband, Dave McCary.
Many took to the internet, speculating that Stone had referred to Kimmel in a less-than-flattering manner. However, Stone was quick to set the record straight. “No! I didn’t call him a prick,” she clarified to THR. “What did I say? I wasn’t upset with him at all. I’ll have to look that up.”
Fielder, her co-star in “The Curse,” came to her defense, highlighting Stone’s easy-going nature. He described her as “always down for a joke,” with Stone adding that she’s “near-unoffendable.”
Emma Stone has a rich history in comedy, with roles in iconic films like “Superbad” and “Easy A.” While she has received critical acclaim for her award-winning performances in dramatic roles, her comedic roots remain an integral part of her career.
Despite the light-hearted banter from Kimmel, Stone ultimately had the last laugh at the Oscars, winning the Academy Award for Best Actress. Following her win, the actress was spotted celebrating with a rare public display of affection, sharing a kiss with her husband, Dave McCary.
With this clarification, Emma Stone has made it clear that she remains unbothered by comedic jabs and continues to be a good sport in the entertainment industry.
