Orlando Bloom Offers Insights on Falling in Love With Katy Perry
Actor Orlando Bloom recently shared rare insights into the dynamics that make his relationship with Katy Perry successful. During an appearance on the “What Now? with Trevor Noah” podcast on Thursday, April 18, Bloom reflected on the early stages of his romance with the “Firework” singer.
“One of the things that drew me to Katy was…she doesn’t like it when I phrase it like this, so I have to be careful, but her music was everywhere, right?” Bloom, 47, told host Trevor Noah. “It was playing on every radio station, although it wasn’t exactly my taste, but I fell in love with Katheryn, this girl from Santa Barbara. And let me tell you, it wasn’t a glamorous upbringing—parents, pastors, living on food stamps. We’re talking real life.”
According to Bloom, both he and Perry share a deep understanding of their backgrounds, the hard work they put in, and the journey that led them to where they are today. They hold each other accountable as they navigate the challenges of their industries and strive for personal growth.
“Katy challenges me to evolve,” he explained. “And I feel I do the same for her. It sparks some fireworks, pun intended. But it’s also a lot of fun and a lot of growth.”
The couple, who first met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016, got engaged on Valentine’s Day three years later and have a 3-year-old daughter named Daisy Dove. While they have not revealed their wedding plans publicly, Perry has previously mentioned that she prefers to keep such details private.
Reflecting on their relationship, Bloom expressed no regrets and emphasized their shared achievements and growth as a couple. “I wouldn’t change a thing, even when it feels overwhelming at times,” he shared. “We have these huge careers and lives, especially hers—it’s like a universe sometimes. But I always come back to her, holding her hand, and saying, ‘Let’s just build a sandcastle.'”
