Johnny Marr took the stage at the renowned Glasgow Barrowland venue on Wednesday night during The Spirit Power Tour, currently making its way through the UK. Ahead of his ninth performance at Barrowland, Marr was honored with induction into the Barrowland Hall Of Fame.
This prestigious Hall of Fame has previously welcomed music legends like David Bowie, Iggy Pop, The Ramones, Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, Simple Minds, and others.
Expressing his gratitude upon receiving the award, Marr remarked, “Thank you to the legendary Glasgow Barrowlands for inducting me into their Hall Of Fame. I remember arriving in the dressing room in 1985 and since then I’ve had the honor of playing there so many times in many different bands.”
Marr’s association with Barrowland dates back to 1985 when he first performed there with The Smiths, returning in subsequent years with various groups including Simple Minds (1987), The The (1989), Electronic (1991), as a special guest with Oasis (2001), as part of The Cribs (2008), and with his solo band (2018).
