Kent Police was called at 4.18pm yesterday (Wednesday) to a crash involving two cars on the coastbound carriageway of the A20.
Patrols, paramedics, and fire crews attended the scene where a person was treated for injuries.
They were taken to hospital for further treatment – police say their injuries are not described as life threatening.
The carriageway was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and arranged for recovery of the vehicles.
National Highways had originally said that the crash involved three vehicles.
The A20 east was closed during the incident and traffic was being diverted via local routes.
Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue, and South East Coast Ambulance service were at the scene for more than two hours.
Despite National Highways confirming that traffic caught within the closure was being “turned and released” via the rear of the queue, drivers said there was “no movement”.
People at the scene said that drivers and passengers were “leaving” their cars and “walking to McDonalds” from the scene of the serious crash on the A20.
