The Potholes Make Glasgow – Enough is Enough protest took place on George Square outside the City Chambers from 10am this morning (February 24).
Those taking part in the demonstration carried signs with statements such as “cars fit for roads, roads not fit for cars”, “Glasgow’s miles worse… Mr Unhappy hates Glasgow’s roads and pavements”, and “we pay you loads now fix the roads”.
Speaking ahead of the protest to the Glasgow Times, organiser Jamie Canavan said he hopes the demonstration will put pressure on Glasgow City Council to “stop neglecting our crumbling road network.”
He said: “Things are pretty bad, there just doesn’t seem to be any sort of progress being made.
“The work they’re doing is just not working, they’re wasting money.
“It’s just getting worse and worse because the repair jobs they’re doing just aren’t adequate.”
The HGV driver, who created Facebook group Potholes Make Glasgow, added: “I’m seeing a lot more burst tyres on people of Glasgow’s vehicles than I’m seeing the council filling holes.”
