PC Perry Lathwood is accused of causing bruising to a young woman when she was arrested and “taken hold of by police”.
Lathwood, of Norman’s Bay near Bexhill, pleaded not guilty to assault by beating.
PC Lathwood, part of the Metropolitan Police’s road traffic policing command team, is accused of assaulting a woman in front of her young son while she carried a scooter onto a bus in Croydon.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard how Lathwood and other officers were helping ticket inspectors on the bus when the woman was taken hold of an arrested.
The incident was recorded by a member of the public.
The woman was de-arrested after she was found to have paid the correct fare.
PC Lathwood appeared via video link wearing a white shirt and dark tie.
Deputy Senior Judge Tam Ikram sent the case to be heard at City of London Magistrates’ Court on May 10.
