Piers Morgan and Zoe Ball's tribute to 'hero' Steve Wright - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates



Piers Morgan and Zoe Ball both shared heartfelt tributes to the BBC Radio DJ after news of the 69-year-old’s death was announced on Tuesday.

Steve was a presenter on BBC Radio one and Radio 2 for decades with his popular afternoon shows.

His family confirmed his death “with deep sorrow and profound regret”.

In a tribute to Steve, broadcaster Piers Morgan, who owns a house in Newick, said: “RIP Steve Wright, 69.

“One of Britain’s greatest ever radio broadcasters.

“A brilliantly creative, funny, warm, intelligent, hard-working and energetic man.

“Absolutely loved him, on and off air. So sad to hear this news.

“Thanks for all the wonderful entertainment, Steve.”

Fellow BBC radio presenter Zoe Ball, who lives near Ashdown Forest, called Steve her “hero”.

In a tribute to her colleague, she said: “Wrighty, our radio friend, our inspiration, master of broadcasting, always there for us all with support, advice, love and most importantly laughter.

“Rest well, you wonderful magic man… love you my friend, my hero.”

Steve was last on air on Sunday, hosting a pre-recorded special Valentine’s Day edition of his Love Songs programme.
