Cops taped off house in Cumbernauld after woman died - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates



999 crews including cops and firefighters raced to the home on Pleamuir Place on Saturday morning.

The woman, who was 77, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

There are not understood to be any other injuries.

The force revealed an investigation has been launched, but the fire is not believed to be suspicious. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11am on Saturday, February 10, 2024, we were called to a report of a fire at a premises in the Pleamuir Place area of Cumbernauld.

“Emergency services attended and a 77-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No one else was injured.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. However, there are no suspicious circumstances at this time.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that four appliances had been called out to the fire at 8.56am and left the scene at 3.45pm.
