A planning application was handed in to the council to carry out the work on the West End venue.
Glasgow Life applied for permission to reopen an existing doorway, replace gates at the main entrance stairs and remove a canopy.
According to documents, this work would “support the ongoing maintenance of the building fabric of the hall”.
It would also enhance the use of the building’s event space and TV studio.
The canopy proposed to be removed is on Old Dumbarton Road. Papers state “this area is no longer in use by the facility, will be maintenance access only and have no public access.
“The remoteness of the existing doors poses a nuisance and security risk.”

If successful, the Blantyre Street doorway will be reopened, the doors refurbished and a new shutter will be placed.
Finally, the filing gates at the main entrances are planned to be replaced.
The application said “the existing gates are no longer serviceable. These will be replaced in painted, mild steel to match the original design”.
The bid is being considered by Glasgow City Council’s planning committee and a decision is expected by Thursday, March 28.
The last day for comments is Friday, March 1.
