Glasgow community council gifts life-saving equipment to arts centre - UK Daily: Tech, Science, Business & Lifestyle News Updates



Members of Merchant City and Trongate Community Council (MCTCC) presented a defibrillator to Project Ability which supports diversity in the visual arts sector but providing a welcoming space for people with learning difficulties and mental ill-health.

The device, donated by MCTCC as part of its community grants programme, is used in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to save the lives of those suffering cardiac arrest.

It will be kept in the charity’s studios at 103 Trongate and will be available for everyone attending classes or visiting other organisations within the building. 

Murray Wilson, operations manager at Project Ability, said: “We have been trying to raise money to buy a defibrillator for several years because we know how crucial it can be for those suffering a heart attack.

“While we hope this will not be needed it is reassuring for everyone in the locality to know we have it ready for an emergency.”
