Police took the suspects into custody after reports of affray at the parade on December 26, which saw people on horseback make their way up the High Street and through the town.
Two women aged 24 and 26 and three men aged 35, 38 and 52 were all later released without further action while a 49-year-old man was given a community resolution – which resolves a “minor incident” through agreement with both parties involved.
Cainin Woodhead, 53, of The Saffrons in Burgess Hill, was charged with using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence. He is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on February 1, 2024.

As the parade passed, protesters held signs reading “hunts not welcome here” and “fox hunting is a crime, not a pastime”.
The protesters and supporters on the other side of the road appeared to meet once the parade had passed, with police trying to keep the groups apart.
Supporters booed and said “go home” to the protesters who pushed against the police who were keeping them apart.
