Alexander Hooper-Hodson, 44, had more than 100 knives, throwing stars, as well as a katana blade in a Travelodge where he was living in Preston Road, Brighton.
Police initially came to the hotel room with concerns for a woman’s safety on November 22 last year before finding his stash of weapons, Brighton Magistrates’ Court heard.
When he was searched, the former TV personality had a flick knife in the waistband of his underwear.
Hooper-Hodson – known as the “sex expert with the tattoos” – was on Channel 5 and MTV’s educational reality show Sex Pod and has written several books including “52 Teen Girl Problems and How To Solve Them”.
Dominic Dudkowski, prosecuting, said: “Police were dealing with an unrelated incident, they went to a Travelodge and wanted to speak to the defendant on another matter. When they arrived they were concerned by some items in the room.
“When he was searched, inside the band of his boxer shorts had a flick knife in it.
“There was a female in the hotel room, she denied being involved. When police arrived they had concerns for her safety. I do not know if anything came of that at all.”
Former Sussex University student Hooper-Hodson was interviewed by police and exercised his right to silence, the court heard.
Charlotte Arundale, defending, stated that he bought the weapons because he was going to start a business to attend cosplay events where he would dress up as superheroes including Spiderman and Deadpool, the 2016 film starring Ryan Reynolds.
