A black tent was set up over the body, which is at the east end of Cumberland Road in Brighton, on Saturday morning (December 23).
Two ambulances, paramedics, roughly a dozen police officers and a number of scene of crime investigators are still in the street this afternoon.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said that officers are dealing with a “serious collision” in the area.
“Police are currently responding to a serious collision,” he said.
“A section of the road has been closed between Preston Drove and Knoyle Road, and motorists are advised to avoid the area in the meantime.”
Police have not yet confirmed the time of the incident or when the body was discovered. We will provide any updates as we have them.
It is the second body to be found in Brighton in recent months.
The body of a missing man was found in Brighton hours after a major search to find him was called off in September.

Helicopters, lifeboats and even a specialist coastguard aeroplane were called in to help find him, however the operation was stood down at around 3pm.
