The Wildfowl and Wetland Trust reserve in Arundel is open all year round but during the winter people can see some beautiful sights, such as kingfishers diving for their daily feast or the flurry of small birds making the most of the season’s berries.
The crisp, bright mornings at this time of the year, along with some sensational sunsets mean the conditions for nature watching are perfect.
At the reserve, visitors can see vast expanses of open skies and take in the winter light.
A spokeswoman for Arundel’s WWT centre said: “Being out in nature is widely known to be an uplifting experience and at this time of year when things can often feel frenzied, escaping into the wild, even for an hour, can bring both comfort and joy.
“Visitors can observe wildlife from the hides and if they want to spend some time indoors in a cosy environment, the Water’s Edge Café has a mouth-watering, warming winter menu of cottage pie, vegan chili, toasted sandwiches and sweet treats like the new vegan biscoff and toffee cake.”
Arundel’s WWT nature reserve is open every day over the winter, except Christmas day, from 10am to 4.30pm. On Christmas Eve, the reserve will close at 2pm.
