Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Records has found a new home at Rockwater on Hove seafront as the label makes a transition from trance anthems to Balearic house tracks.
Saturday nights at Rockwater will now be to the soundtrack of Perfecto’s extensive roster of DJs following the partnership with venue boss Luke Davis and record producer Paul Oakenfold.
Luke said: “They were one of the innovators around dance music. I think it will be really good for Brighton. I have always felt strongly in telling culturally relevant and powerful stories that connect with our audience and community.”
The city is home to music stars Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and Dave Clarke and there are hopes the new Perfecto residency will contribute to the thriving music scene.
“We are hoping to breathe a new life into Perfecto. It was ground-breaking and one of the biggest labels on the planet when it first started, but Paul has been in America and since he’s come back to the UK it’s an opportunity to bring it back to life and modernise it, showing it to a new generation,” said Luke.
The Rockwater founder has big plans for the partnership including a music festival at its Sandbanks site in Bournemouth next year.
The label has been responsible for the likes of Mark Ronson, Tiesto, Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and Calvin Harris.
Perfecto nights at Rockwater take place every Saturday on the new roof terrace, kicking off last weekend with DJ Nancy Noise and special guests Paul Oakenfold, The Streets and Liam from Chase and Status
