The fried chicken restaurant named Sides is the third branch to open outside of London.
In a surprising revelation, the grand opening was only announced today, the same day it opened for business.
Kent Online reported that the approach is different from prior locations around the country, where the opening was announced well in advance.
As a result, some eager fans camped out overnight to secure their spot as the first customers.
Police had concerns about crowd turnouts with hopefully fans wanting to catch a glimpse of the famous YouTubers, and therefore warned the Sidemen against attending the opening themselves.
The Sidemen gained significant popularity on YouTube, accumulating more than 130 million subscribers combined since they started in 2013.
Online fame propelled the group into starting various ventures, including the three Sides restaurants they’ve opened recently, and a clothing line, SDMN.
The popularity extended to live performances as demonstrated in their recent charity football match, which sold out London Stadium and raised more than £2.4 million.
Catering to fans and foodies, the newly opened Sides joint offers crispy fried chicken, shakes and sides, which is likely to hit the spot at Bluewater.
In terms of capacity, the Bluewater restaurant can accommodate 65 customers and is projected to employ 50 individuals.
Given the success of their clothing line, which has already launched at Bluewater, the group anticipates a positive reception to their restaurant.
Sides CEO, Robin Mehta told Kent Online: “We are delighted to welcome Bluewater to the Sides family.
“With the successful opening of SDMN clothing having already taken place here, it is clear that there is an appetite for a restaurant here and we can’t wait to get started.
“After the successful launching of locations outside of London, we at Sides are proud to stick to our ethos that people will come for the hype, but
come back for the food, and we can’t wait for the people of Kent and visitors of Bluewater to sample our new and improved menu.”
James Waugh, the Bluewater centre director, added to Kent Online: “Our continued partnership with the YouTube stars shows the importance of
digital natives coming into physical spaces to meet their audiences in person.”
