Bexhill Town Council reopened the public toilets in Devonshire Square on Saturday.
It was one of seven public toilets that were closed for the winter from November 13 as part of cost-cutting plans by Rother District Council.
The chief of Rother District Council urged Bexhill Town Council to work with his authority to keep the public toilets in the town open over the winter.
Now, Bexhill Council has approved plans to pay the costs to re-open and run the facility while it negotiates a lease with Network Rail.
The town council also agreed to take control of the lease of Channel View East toilets.
The Devonshire Square toilets were temporarily closed in November by Rother District Council due to an expected £3.8 million shortfall in its 2024/25 budget.
Councillor Doug Oliver, leader of Rother District Council said: “I’m delighted that Bexhill Town Council has taken the decision to fund the running of these toilets for the good of the local community.
“I’d like to thank the town councillors and officers and we look forward to building on this extremely positive step to protect services in Bexhill.”
