At around 7.20am on Tuesday, November 28, cops received a report of a car being stolen from outside a property in Montrose Drive after it was left unattended while being defrosted.
An investigation is ongoing.
Police are now warning car owners not to leave their vehicle unattended while defrosting it, highlighting that many insurance companies will not pay claims for any stolen in this way.
Police Scotland East Dunbartonshire division say they found seven vehicles running unattended outside homes this morning.

We have seen the first “Frosting” car theft in Bearsden yesterday morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.20am on Tuesday, 28 November, 2023, police received a report of a car being stolen from outside a property in Montrose Drive, Bearsden.
“Enquiries are continuing.”
