Kevin Sinfield will run seven ultra marathons (27.2 miles) in seven days in seven cities to raise awareness and money in support of people impacted by motor neurone disease.
His first run will be from Leeds to York on December 1, followed by Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Dublin, Brighton and London.
The 43-year-old, who is a former professional rugby league player for Leeds Rhinos, England and Great Britain, will arrive in Brighton on December 6.
So far, he has raised more than £8 million for the fight against MND across three endurance events.
Each one has been inspired by his former Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow MBE, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2019.
Motor neurone disease is an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves. It causes weakness that gets worse over time.
“It has been a great way of celebrating the MND community and celebrating Rob and showing people we care,” said Kevin.
“The support we have had has been amazing. The plan is to run seven marathons, plus an extra mile each day, in seven different cities in the UK and Ireland across seven days.
“We are really looking forward to it; there are 100 reasons we shouldn’t go again, but there are 5,000 why we should and the big reason is Rob.”
BusinessWaste.co.uk is for the second year sponsoring Kevin’s efforts and is calling on businesses to get behind the cause. Every local firm has been encouraged to donate and support the fundraising endeavour.
Business Waste’s managing director David Adams said: “The effort Kevin Sinfield and his team put into pushing themselves to the upper limit with these gruelling challenges to raise funds that support those living with MND and research into treatments and a cure is incredibly inspiring.”
Mark Hall, founder of Business Waste said: “We’re really proud to once again get behind such a wonderful awareness and fundraising cause.”
