One thing I love to see in the cool November weather is curvy women looking their best in fall fashion. The crispness of the air and wardrobe layering sends chills down my spine and wraps happiness around my face.
As a stylist, it’s my job to make sure that you’re building the best plus size capsule wardrobe, so you can maximize (A) the creativity and (B) the number of wears you get out of each piece you invest in. Below, I’m sharing four fabulous finds that you can add to your fall wardrobe to be the It Girl all season long— even transitioning into Winter.
4 Items to Add to Your Plus Size Capsule Wardrobe this Fall
1. Plus Size Trench Coat
The versatility of a trench coat brings character to any look in a way that allows for so much creativity. Although the trench is only one element to a look, if you’re wearing the coat throughout the day or to an event, you’ll want to look for these things:
- the perfect color to add to your look underneath
- a tailored fit
- one that can go from day to night, casual to dressy
Why? Because you don’t want just another coat in your closet. You want a statement item that can truly tell a story about your style and personality. And let’s be for real here, people— you want to show the world you have taste!
Whenever I wear my plus size trench coat (it’s not often because I live in South Atlanta), I always want to give off the look of luxury and high fashion. Whether I’m wearing a dress with a nice pair of boots or leather-like leggings with sneakers, the trench needs to tell a story that not only am I a stylist, but I’m here to represent for the full-figured fashionistas around the globe!

2. Plus Size Leather Pants
Don’t stone me, but I happen to LOVE the way plus size leather pants look on curves, especially if you get a pair that fits your body well. Visiting a tailor or seamstress is your friend if you have a pair of pants that don’t fit quite right. I find that you can transition leather from fall to winter to spring and maximize your number of wears by layering when necessary.
Now that we are in the fall season, purchasing a pair of leather pants (or pulling them from the back of your closet) will get you started on that capsule wardrobe and allow you to participate in different trends that are brewing right now in these fashion streets.

3. Plus Size Camo Pants
Very much like plus size denim jeans, plus size camo pants are transitional (from season to season) and can give you such an edge with your daily style. These pants can be dressed up or down while also allowing you to pair them with different blouses, sweaters, t-shirts (classic and graphic), denim tops, and bodysuits.

4. Black Chelsea Boots
They’re not just for men; they’re for us girls, too! I absolutely LOVE seeing the Chelsea boot being paired with tights, a dress or skirt, and a nice handbag. I am so drawn to that particular look.
However, you can pair your Chelsea boots in whatever way that brings out your personal style and grace while you’re wearing them. If the black Chelsea boot isn’t your speed, trying a cream or colored pair does the trick, especially if the boot has a print like leopard or houndstooth.
